When we would walk from Potsdamer Platz to our appartments in West-Kreuzberg, we would walk down Oranienstraße and pass this tall golden-coated building. We were told that it belongs to a great german press magnate who decided to build his offices directly on the western edge of the border (aka the Berlin wall) at the time. As soon as the wall came down in 1989, he build an addition to the existing office building, this time right on the ancient border. Today, as a line of bricks in the ground simulate where the historic wall would stand, they pass directly under the magnate’s golden wall.

And that’s the story of this picture. Soon on hippopocampe, another no so random berlin photo explained.
