It feels quite good to be back in my titanium skin. I was computer-less the past week, the motherboard on my laptop went bizerk for some obscure reason, it needed to be replaced. So no music, no photos, no address book (a round of applause for facebook), no bookmarks, no feeds, no software, nada. To top it off, the computer repair store moved¹ while my laptop was in repair, so the service took twice as long.

Being com-putterless has been a bitch, keeping screen time on barrowed computer to the strict minimum. However, I haven’t been unproductive—au contraire ma chère—I kept myself busy working on a few new projects that I’ll be able to shout loud and far as soon as everything launches.

By the way, a week ago or so, districtmontreal.com launched. The website and exhibition project is dedicated to the city’s photographical value and invited 12 local photographers (including yours truly) to exhibit their work big and wide at the Eaton Center on St-Catherine (on big lampshades like these). To top it off, it is also now waiting for the participation the public to collaborate and submit pictures you have taken of the city. Photographs will be displayed on the web and exhibition site, gathering a plethora of very personal and specific views of Montreal. Go!

Right now, 23h46 en ce lundi soir de juin, les feuilles de papier sur le bureau collent naturellement à mes coudes; l’idée d’aller prendre une douche froide me plait bien. On va ensuite faire l‘étoile dans le lit et espérer que la fatigue l’emporte.

When Harry asked me to cover a weekly magazine review for MocoLoco, truth to be told, I was somewhat skeptical to what that could exactly cover or what could that would even look like. I know some of the magazines, I’ll surely glance through them if they’re there (that is if somebody brought it at the studio in the first place) but I’m not exactly a mag-junky or even a mag man at all, I don’t indulge in the weekly ritual of browsing the corner mag store. So being obligated to go in the store and come out with a few publications to throughly read and review does sound like a challenge. And being the positive thinker that I am: I can surely learn something new out of that. So, yeah, why not!

I’ll be slowly dipping my feet in this publishing format, trying to figure out what everybody stands for, what I agree on, what I don’t, approaching the topics quite critically as a designer working in the world we know today, which nobody should be passive and ignore no matter the covered topic. For the sake of conciseness, I’ll be sticking to what content is worthy of reading, what should be looked up and read the next time you’re browsing the local mag store.

First review starts to-day. Yay!

En moins d’une heure, à l’aide de messages textes, de mises à jour de status facebook et d’une jetta, nous sommes une quarentaine à écouter de l‘électro sous le viaduc de st-laurent, à jouer au frisbee et aux 4 coins, et se la couler tranquille en ce lundi soir d‘été à Montréal.

Je suis parti vendredi, je suis rendu là.
